Foreshadowing

There is a great amount of foreshadowing present in the book Speak. The biggest example of foreshadowing is in the beginning of the book when Melinda is assigned to make a piece of artwork of a tree. Under a tree is where her life-changing incident occurred. The time in the book when Melinda does not talk to anyone, the way it seems like she is unable to communicate with anyone represents the way she could not talk about her attack and express her.
